Bunge Grain Bin Collapses in Missouri

'Catastrophic failure' of 850,000-bushel grain bin in LaGrange

A grain bin collapsed then exploded on impact Monday morning, according to LaGrange fire officials.

According to a report at WGEM, LaGrange Fire Chief Henry Gunsauls says it was a catastrophic failure of an 850,000-bushel grain bin. He says crews were working on one side of the bin when it split, but there’s no word on what caused the split.

Clean up could take weeks as the spill backs up from LaGrange city hall to the railroad.

Bunge Corp., St. Louis, MO, runs the facility.
