Biomin has released its latest mycotoxin report.

Preliminary analysis of the 2018 corn crop has revealed some interesting data.

So far this season, BIOMIN has analyzed 177 samples from 23 states for six major mycotoxin families. Take a look at these early results:

  • 93% of samples tested positive for at least one mycotoxin
  • 58% of samples tested positive for more than one mycotoxin

Clear and pronounced differences from state to state in the types of mycotoxins prevalent are being uncovered; thus indicating the development of contaminated regional hotspots.

  • Although overall prevalence of DON across the country is 64%, IA has 94% of samples positive and MN 100%.
  • Major corn producing states such as IL, MO, and other southern states are having high contamination levels of Fumonisin. The average level in IL is 2380 ppb, and the average in MO is 7844 ppb.
