Ashby Farmers Cooperative Starts with New Company

WDCE reopened the facility under the name Ashby Grain LLC

Ashby Farmers Elevator Cooperative in Minnesota shut its doors Sept. 14 after its trophy hunting general manager was accused of stealing nearly $5 million and disappeared.

The Wheaton-Dumont Cooperative Elevator (WDCE, Inc.) stepped in to reopen it on Oct. 3 under the name Ashby Grain LLC, reports AgWeek.

WDCE has set up fuel accounts with other Ashby Equity and local hardware and grocery stores. All of the commercial trucks that were hauling for the elevator before have been retained. It has also retained most of the previous staff.

One happy customer is Dave Leslie Anderson, 56, of Ashby, whose family has done business with the elevator for generations.

"I'm just really happy it's open again," Anderson told AgWeek. "It's good for our whole town, our community here. Good for our family."
