Army Corps Plans Lock and Dam Closures in 2020

Much of the Illinois River system will be shut down

By packing six closures into a short time frame, Army Corps of Engineers hopes "to make the negative impact to the navigation industry as small as we can," reports Farm Week Now.

Much of the Illinois River system will be shut down during the summer of 2020 for maintenance and upgrade work on six of the eight locks and dams.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers currently plans for the closures to occur at the same time between spring flooding and harvest.
