Ernie Marsh, a 41-year veteran of the metal and industrial manufacturing, is the new operations manager at AGI Union Iron, Decatur IL.
The initiative of becoming the “Vendor of Choice” for commercial customers has resulted in quality improvement programs, including incoming inspection of purchased products as well as non-destructive testing of critical structural welds.
Career success. Marsh has a proven track record of success in manufacturing and reliability engineering, industrial maintenance and continuous improvement. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and has worked with Fortune 500 companies and private sector firms.
Marsh received the Thomas A. Peebles Award for most advanced student in control systems and has achieved his Green Belt Certification in Six Sigma.
During his career, Marsh has implemented compliance programs for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), federal EPA, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
He has managed and led as many as 230 industrial skilled trades technicians and engineers while implementing successful preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and calibration programs on over 10,000 pieces of equipment.
Development expertise. His strong expertise in TPM, power distribution, lighting and compressed air energy savings, boiler management, and industrial worker talent development has greatly contributed to and improved agricultural metal working manufacturing locations for over 12 years.
Marsh was also the chief operating officer and principal partner of Cornerstone Technology Solutions (CTS), an industrial and commercial solutions company, which focused on helping customers reduce costs and providing solutions to improve market competitiveness.
Large agricultural customers such as Archer Daniels Midland Co. and Tate & Lyle realized savings of over $500,000 per year due to process and personnel improvements through CTS.
