The American Feed Industry Association adds Mallory Gaines as its manager of market access and trade policy, effective June 10.

In this newly created AFIA position, Gaines will be responsible for developing, implementing and communicating the organization’s trade policy goals and activities and supporting the growth of trade-related policies that are in the best interests of expanding U.S. exports.

She will monitor and track key international trade regulatory and policy initiatives for AFIA’s director of international policy and trade. She will also represent AFIA’s members engaged in international trade and support the work of AFIA’s International Trade Committee.

“Mallory brings a wealth of international agriculture policy expertise to the table as well as the desire to broaden her knowledge base into the wider international trade sphere,” said Gina Tumbarello, AFIA’s director of international policy and trade. “We are very excited for her to expand AFIA’s international trade work and join our legislative and regulatory team!”

Gaines joined AFIA after founding Gage Group Consulting, a boutique consulting firm based in Denver, CO, which offered strategic advice, issues management and innovative initiatives for trade associations, university clients and for-profit companies. Prior to that, she managed the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s international standard-setting initiatives, advancing NCBA’s positions and support of scientifically sound practices worldwide.

Hailing from Chevy Chase, MD, Gaines holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Delaware.
