ADM Grain Elevator Explosion in Decatur, IL

Fire was located in conveyor system; no injuries were reported

Firefighters responded to the Archer Daniels Midland Co. campus off Faries Parkway, Decatur, IL, in response to a dust explosion and fire, Battalion Chief Jim Ohl said Saturday.

The Herald & Review reports that fire units were called out at 12:56 a.m. Saturday morning and remained on the scene for more than two hours. Ohl said the fire was located in the conveyor system and was visible when the first fire company arrived. No injuries were reported.

ADM spokesperson Jackie Anderson said in a statement that there was an explosion around 1 a.m. in the grain elevator that serves the company's corn and soybean plants in the Decatur complex.
