Since 2001, Buxton Feed Co. has been working toward perfecting its LAYER 16% Feed as a GMO-free product. And today, the company is not just announcing that it’s just been GMO FREE Certified™, but it’s the first Pacific Northwest business of its kind to receive this coveted recognition. Now, Buxton Feed Co. can formally promote and provide its product as GMO Free to a growing number of customers wanting healthier poultry feed.
“We are elated to have learned from GMO FREE Certified™ that our layer 16% feed is now GMO Free,” says Jim Sorenson, president of Buxton Feed Co., located in Banks, Ore. “We’ve recently seen demand for such product skyrocket yet without the certification, it’s been challenging to promote our product as GMO free. The GMO FREE Certified™ label is powerful, and we’re grateful to have it.”
Buxton’s GMO FREE Certified™ Layer Feed is made from GMO-free whole grains that are mostly sourced in the Pacific Northwest. The company also uses Fertrell products in its feed mixes to ensure poultry get all the necessary vitamins and minerals, so they can perform at their best.
“Healthy animals mean healthy people, and that’s been our mission from the start, well before all the concerns about GMO products started making headlines,” Sorenson says. “It’s been a long process to fine-tune our feed and get it just right, as well as go through the certification requirements for becoming officially GMO-free, but it’s been critical to the integrity of our company and for the benefit of our customers and their animals. It’s an important peace-of-mind.”
Buxton Feed Co.’s layer feed has always been produced in the Sorenson’s family-owned mill. Its newly certified GMO-free Layer 16% Feed comes in a 50 lb. paper bag and is available in either pellet or mash form.
