VAA Wins Charity Contest

Constructed tractor from cans to fight hunger

VAA (Van Sickle, Allen), a multidiscipline engineering firm in Plymouth, MN, teamed with Second Harvest Heartland to provide food for those in need at this year’s Seventh Annual Canstruction Competition. After the competition, the teams donate their cans to Second Harvest Heartland to help in their mission to end hunger through community partnerships.

VAA received the following three awards for their structure made from ordinary cans of food:

  • Juror's Favorite, the top prize in the competition!
  • People's Choice
  • Structural Ingenuity

Thanks to its generous donors, VAA donated 5,900 items weighing 6,150 pounds.
