On Sept. 17 the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Agricultural Statistics Board, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released its latest Crop Progress Report.
The report shows the corn harvest is well under way in many states, with more than 60% harvested in Texas and North Carolina. Tennessee trailed closeby with 52% of its corn crop harvested.
Meanwhile, corn crop conditions nationwide continue to struggle, notably in Missouri where more than half of the crop -- 58% -- is rated in very poor condition. In the 18 states surveyed, 25% of the crop is rated very poor, whereas at this time in 2011, only 8% got that grade.
