Scoular Acquires South Central Nebraska Grain Facility

The 770,000-bushel facility will receive local wheat, soybeans and corn

The Scoular Company announced that it has acquired a grain-handling facility in Atlanta, NE from an independent producer. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

Mark Mossman, who oversees Scoular’s Nebraska facilities, says the company plans to use the 770,000 bushel steel upright facility in Atlanta to receive local wheat, soybeans and corn. “The Atlanta location will be operated as a satellite to our larger grain-handling operation in Holdrege. We’ve leased this facility two of the past three years, and we’re glad to have it as a permanent part of our operation. It puts us closer to some of our farmer customers, so we can be there when they need us, especially at harvest.”

Scoular plans to improve the facility by constructing a new scale and modifying the site’s traffic pattern to get trucks in and out more easily. The slated improvements are expected to be complete by mid-June, ahead of the area’s wheat harvest.
