New courses provide an introduction to grain operations, material handling and grain entrapment
There continues to be strong interest in GEAPS’ distance education courses as evident by the 50 people who registered for the latest materials handling class. GEAPS 551: Materials Handling II is a new course that provides the nuts and bolts of grain and feed industry materials handling. While the high registration is not a record, the course is at the maximum capacity allowed for a GEAPS /K-State class. This is the latest sign of how the GEAPS/K-State distance education program is meeting the needs of serious professionals in the grain handling and operations industry.
For 2012, GEAPS is providing three new ways for individuals to enhance their knowledge of grain handling and invest in their career. The new courses are in the areas of material handling, grain entrapment and an introduction to grain operations. These are practical, real-world training courses for grain industry professionals. That brings the number of distance- educations courses that will be offered next year to 14, an increase of two. The courses are offered in seven different time slots throughout the year. The brand new courses that highlight the 2012 schedule are:
• GEAPS 552 – Materials Handling III (the final course in a three-part series, set for April 23);
• GEAPS 545 – Grain Entrapment: Causes, Prevention and Rescue (May 28); and
• GEAPS 500 – Introduction to Grain Operations (Sept. 3).
