On April 17, the Federal Railroad Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements program.
The NOFO funds up to $311.8 million in freight and passenger rail projects to improve transportation safety, efficiency, and reliability.
At least 25% of available funds will be reserved for projects in rural communities. Applications for funding under this solicitation are due no later than 5 p.m. eastern time, June 19, 2020.
