Bedeschi Supplies Shiploader for Cargill Westwego

Shuttle-type ship-loading arm is capable of loading grain and oilseeds at 80,000 bushels/hour

Bedeschi, a European company that provides turn-key solutions in bulk material handling, recently supplied a ship loading system, to Cargill Westwego, New Orleans, as part of it refurbishment and upgrading of an existing facility operating on the Mississippi River.

Bedeschi engineered, manufactured, installed and commissioned a shuttle-type ship-loading arm capable of loading grain and oilseeds at 80,000 bushels/hour (2,200 tons/hour) on vessels up to 120,000 DWT.

Bedeschi undertook the project as well as mechanical and electrical works on a turnkey basis.

The equipment was preassembled in Italy and shipped to New Orleans area in three main parts, a clear example of eco-friendly solution made for reducing to the minimum the downtime in port handling operations and maximizing the customer’s benefits.

Currently, the shuttle type shiploader has reached its final position in Westwego and it will start to operate soon.
