Syngenta Crop Protection and Lavie Bio Ltd., a leading ag-biologicals company and subsidiary of Evogene Ltd., have announced a partnership to discover and develop new biological insecticidal solutions. This collaboration combines Lavie Bio's innovative technology platform for identifying and optimizing bio-insecticide candidates with Syngenta’s robust global research, development, and commercialization capabilities.

Insect infestations present a significant threat to global agriculture, causing direct plant damage and spreading diseases, which result in an estimated $70 billion annual loss worldwide. The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization highlights the growing challenge of insect resistance and the expected increase in losses due to global warming.

Camilla Corsi, Global Head of Research at Syngenta Crop Protection, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing Syngenta's dedication to sustainable agriculture and innovation. The partnership aims to introduce novel methods to combat insect resistance and diversify sustainable agricultural solutions.

Amit Noam, CEO of Lavie Bio, also expressed excitement about the collaboration with Syngenta, highlighting the mutual commitment to sustainable farming. The synergy between Lavie Bio's computational capabilities and Syngenta's extensive experience in product development and commercialization is anticipated to significantly impact agricultural insect management.
