I’m bursting with holiday spirit as I pen this address to you. Christmas music fills the air in my home from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year, and our holiday decorations are on display for the same duration. Picture chestnuts roasting on an open fire and stockings hung by the chimney with care. OK, perhaps the scene here isn’t quite that idyllic, but with only slight exaggeration, that is the backdrop from which I am writing you today.
And while the holidays will have already passed by the time this arrives in your mailbox, right now I’m reviewing my family’s Christmas lists and plotting how to find the best deals on all their wishes. Truth be told, at this point I’m closer to making holiday wishes come true for Feed & Grain readers than I am for my loved ones.
That is, if what you’ve been wishing for is an enhanced digital experience from your favorite industry publication. You see, for the past several months, the publisher, sales team and editorial staff at Feed & Grain have been working with a talented team of both in-house and third-party digital media gurus to completely overhaul our website, digital edition, tablet app, e-newsletter and mobile site.
We’ve scrutinized, evaluated and assessed every component of these offerings from both the readers’ and advertisers’ perspectives to think creatively about how to provide more intuitive navigation, more multi-media features and a more responsive design. This exercise has been both eyeopening and a lot of fun for me, and I think you’ll be pleased with the changes we’re about to make as a result of it. As new rollouts get closer, you’ll be informed of launch dates and specific products via email.
Although we are going through a period of digital creativity, we haven’t completely abandoned some of our offerings that worked in the past — like our IPPE mini-site. For the second year, Feed & Grain has developed a mini version of its website dedicated to all things IPPE related. Visit www.feedandgrain. com/ippe for show hours, educational session schedules, a scrolling Twitter feed of #ippe tweets, information about the products on display and videos from the trade show floor.
Happy belated holidays! I hope you will enjoy the digital gifts we’ve been preparing for you.
