Going the Distance for Safety Education
GEAPS and K-State are closing the gap between safety education information and those looking for it via its Distance Education Program beginning in January.
Emergency preparedness and response at smaller, rural grain facilities has its own challenges, and this session will address how they might best be met. It will discuss typical incidents at rural facilities, how they should be addressed in an Emergency Action Plan, equipment and costs, and partnering with local authorities, fire departments and other emergency responders. The session will also discuss formation of rescue teams, stabilizing the situation until help arrives, and “plugging the gaps” between a facility’s emergency and rescue capabilities and what outside help can offer.
Speakers: Wayne Bauer, Safety and Security Director, Star of the West Milling, Frankenmuth MI; Mike Brink, Safety Training Rescue Assn., Madison Heights, MI
Coordinator: Paul Schreck, Consultant — Loss-Control, Nationwide Agribusiness, Mitchell, SD
