Mountaire Farms' Scotland County feed mill in Maxton, N.C., has been named the 2023 Integrator Feed Facility of the Year. This prestigious award, presented by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) in partnership with Feedstuffs and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), was handed to plant manager Hector Pacheco during the USPOULTRY Feed Mill Management Seminar last Thursday.

Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs, commended the facility for its remarkable achievement of winning the award two consecutive years, highlighting their commitment to producing safe, quality poultry feed and ensuring employee safety. In 2022, the feed mill produced over 1 million tons of feed, with plans for expansion to increase capacity to 1.75 million tons annually. The facility is also recognized for its Safe Feed/Safe Food certification under AFIA’s program.

Apart from their excellence in feed production, Mountaire Farms also demonstrates a strong commitment to employee safety and community involvement. The facility's "Goal Zero" program focuses on achieving zero workplace accidents, while the "Mountaire Cares" program emphasizes charitable contributions to local nonprofits, community leadership, and scholarship offerings.

The AFIA has a long-standing history of honoring feed manufacturing excellence since 1985 through its Feed Facility of the Year program. The Scotland County facility's repeat win showcases its industry-leading standards in production and corporate responsibility. Applications for the 2024 Feed Facility of the Year are now open and will be accepted until April 12.
